Our guests (that would be you) have the unique opportunity to observe many indigenous and migratory bird species in our backyard, which is (if we haven’t mentioned it before) the Coconino National Forest. Aside from the Gambel’s Quail, they sort of run the place, one can also see Woodpeckers, Hummers, Towhees, Pinyon and Scrub Jays, Scott’s Orioles, Cardinals, Hawks, Ravens, Roadrunners (meep meep) and a variety of Finches along with dozens of other varieties. Bunnies are also aplenty, as they avoid Coyotes and Bobcats, but they are happy to dine with Javelina and an occasional Deer. If you need more of a “feather fix” there are bird and nature hikes throughout the week at Red Rock State Park.
