Jerome is an old mining town turned ghost town, which has been revived in recent years. After being abandoned when the copper mine closed, it was reinhabited and turned into an art colony. Perched on the side of a mountain about a 35 minute spectacular drive from Sedona, visitors can walk the winding old streets and glimpse life as it was lived at the turn of the century. Numerous shops and galleries offer diversions and several restaurants will feed and refresh the weary.
Sedona's red rock country and its environs offers visitors spectacular scenic driving opportunities. Some of the scenic drives include Schnebly Hill Road (if you have an SUV), Red Rock Loop Road, Boynton Pass Loop, Page Springs Loop, and Oak Creek Canyon.
